GIANNETTI EARNS 800TH CAREER WIN IN SWEEP OF NYACK COLLEGE
Nyack, N.Y. (4/12/17) Dominican College Head Baseball Coach, Rick Giannetti, earned his 800th career coaching win this afternoon as the Chargers swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header over the Nyack College Warriors in games played at Nyack High School. The Chargers won both games by the score of 4-0.

Nyack, N.Y. (4/12/17) Dominican College Head Baseball Coach, Rick Giannetti, earned his 800th career coaching win this afternoon as the Chargers swept a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) double-header over the Nyack College Warriors in games played at Nyack High School. The Chargers won both games by the score of 4-0.
Game One: Dominican got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second with two runs as Tyler Malia (Delran, N.J.) singled home a run down the right field line and left fielder Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) followed with an RBI ground out.
An RBI single to right field in the third frame off the bat of designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) gave DC the 3-0 advantage.
A run came home in the fifth on a dropped third strike to increase the lead to 4-0.
First basemen Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) tallied four hits in the win, while Bartolomei finished with three hits.
Nathanial Popiel (Mechanicville, N.Y.) went the distance to improve to 2-3 on the season, striking out 11 batters and allowing eight hits.
Game Two: In the milestone win for Giannetti, the Chargers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning as Gray produced the RBI single through the left side for the early 1-0 lead.
Bartolomei added an insurance run in the sixth as he singled through the left side to bring home Bernacet and increase lead to 2-0. A fielder's choice and an error on the same play allowed two more Charger runs to score to give them a 4-0 lead.
Kraigen Rasalla (Scranton, Pa.) got the complete game shut out win (4-4), scattering just two hits and striking out eight batters.
With the sweep, Dominican improves to 12-16 overall and 7-7 in conference play.
