MEN'S BASKETBALL VICTORIOUS OVER UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN
Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/26/23) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team defeated the University of New Haven this afternoon to improve to 6-0 overall on the season.
Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) scored a team-high 17 points off the bench and also recorded a team-high nine rebounds. Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished with 15 points and six boards off the bench.
Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) added 13 points including going 3-4 from three-point range while Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored 12 points and also hit three three-pointers.
Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) finished with eight points, four boards, and three assists while Joshuel White (Paterson, N.J.) recorded a team-high five boards and four assists.
Both teams opened the first ten minutes of the game going back and forth before Dominican finished the opening half on a 29-11 run for the 52-35 lead at the break.
Dominican extended to their largest lead of the game which was 20 points to begin the second half. UNH answered back with a 9-0 run.
UNH continued to fight their way back into the game by using a 19-9 run and cut the DU lead to four points. Dominican never lost the lead as they continued to answer New Haven's comeback effort and hit free-throws down the stretch to solidify the win.
UNH was led by Keith Warren who scored a game-high 27 points off the bench. Jah'Likai King added 16 points, nine boards, and four steals. Davontrey Thomas scored 13 points while Joshua Hopson recorded a team-high 13 rebounds.
DU finished the game shooting 40.8% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range. Dominican forced 22 turnovers and scored 19 points off of UNH turnovers. Dominican scored 34 points in the paint and 53 points off the bench.
Dominican caps off their five-game homestand this Wednesday with their CACC opener as they host the Purple Knights of the University of Bridgeport in the 7th Annual Mike Coffey Memorial Game. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
