DOMINICAN CHARGES PAST FELICIAN FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN
Orangeburg, N.Y. (1/17/24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team charged past the Golden Falcons of Felician University in CACC action at the Hennessy Center.
The Chargers opened the first half on a 25-5 run and held the lead for the remainder of the game to improve to 11-5 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
The Golden Falcons made a strong second half push to get back into the game but were not able to complete the comeback to fall to 8-10 overall and 4-3 in the CACC.
Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored a season high 27 points in the win and started the game off hot from three-point range hitting on his first four attempts and finishing the game 5-8 from downtown and 11-16 from the field. Cherry also added a team-high three steals.
Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J,) finished the game with 16 points and five boards while Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored 12 points.
Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) scored 10 points while Joshuel White (Paterson, N.J.), Emmanuel Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) each pulled down six boards.
The Chargers started the game off strong on a 25-5 run and later extended to their largest lead of the game which was 27 and held a double digit lead by halftime.
Dominican finished their strong opening half by shooting 47.1% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range.
Felician fought their way back into the game by outscoring the Chargers 19-10 and cut the deficit to 12 points.
Dominican then extended their lead to 18 points and Felician used another run late to cut the lead to single digits but the Chargers were able to secure the 84-76 victory.
Dominican finished the game shooting 50.0% from the field and 44.8% from three-point range. Dominican got a boost from their bench by outscoring Felician's bench 35-7. The Chargers also finished the game 11-14 from the free-throw line.
The Chargers return to action next Thursday when they host Thomas Jefferson University at 6:00 PM.
