Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/5/23) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team fell in non-conference action this afternoon to the College of Saint Rose in a game played at OMM Field #5 in Orangeburg, N.Y.
The Chargers fall to 0-2 overall on the season while the Golden Knights improve to 1-1 overall after the win.
Alessandro Guzzinati (Ferrara, Italy) got the start in goal for the Chargers and made 10 saves but suffered the loss.
Leopold Dufaut made seven saves for the Golden Knights in net and recorded his first win of the season to improve to 1-1.
Saint Rose got on the board first with two goals in the first half after Joao Amaral and Hilmar Halldorsson each scored for the 2-0 advantage. Valerii Burlacenco recorded an assist on the first goal.
Saint Rose extended to a 3-0 lead early in the second half after Isac Williamson scored at the 47:08 mark.
Dominican got on the board at 51:56 when Guilherme Pirana (Jundiai, Brazil) scored his first goal of the year which was assisted by Noa Ahlfors (Lahti, Finland).
Alessandro Cerbara scored later in the half followed by Halldorsson's second goal of the game to give the Golden Knights a 5-1 lead.
Dominican answered back at the 64:13 mark when Ahlfors scored his first goal of the season and Griffin Van Cott (Goshen, N.Y.) added the assist.
Isac Williamson scored his second goal of the game at 68:18 and Saevar Johnson followed with a goal at 79:24 for the 7-2 lead and completed the victory.
The Chargers return to action this Saturday when they travel to Adelphi University for a non-conference contest at 3:00 PM.
