Orangeburg, N.Y. (10/28/23)  The Dominican University New York men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie with the visiting Griffins of Chestnut Hill College this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game played on O'Brien Field.

Prior to the start of the contest the team honored seniors: #00 Marcos Penaherrera (Campbell Hall, N.Y.), #3 Lucas Rego Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), #5 Gabriel Vargas (Brooklyn, N.Y.), #6 Jacob Owen (Middlesbrough, England), #10 Marouf Barry (Bronx, N.Y.), #21 Armindo Ferreira (Yonkers, N.Y.) and #23 Jonathon Rubin (Palm City, Fla.).

Dominican now stands at 3-12-1 overall and 3-6-1 in conference play.

The Chargers got on the scoreboard first as Guilherme Pirana (Jundiai, Brazil) netted a goal in the 10th minute of play for the early lead.

Chestnut Hill countered at the 22:21 mark with a goal to make the score, 1-1.

Pirana regained a 2-1 advantage at 73:27 with his second game goal off the dish from Barry.

The Griffins netted a goal in the 81st minute of action for the eventual 2-2 final score.

Dominican held the 20-17 advantage in shots, while CHC had the 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Charger keeper David Arteaga (Middlesex, N.J.) made two saves in the game.

The Chargers return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to the University of Bridgeport.
