LADY CHARGERS SECURE A VICTORY OVER GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Orangeburg, N.Y. (11/16/19) The Dominican College women's basketball team defeated the Golden Knights of the College of St Rose by a score of 64-53. The game opened the 7th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament.
The Lady Chargers improved to 2-2 overall on the season and St Rose fell to 2-1 overall.
The Golden Knights held a slim one-point lead after the first quarter. The Lady Chargers outscored St Rose in the second quarter 15-11 and held a 25-22 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, DC scored 23 points to jump in front of St Rose by double digits. The Golden Knights cut the deficit to ten before the end of the quarter.
St Rose cut the deficit to single digits but the Lady Chargers were able to close out their second win of the season.
Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) earned a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Dominican. Naabea-Janann Assibey-Bonsu (Central Islip, N.Y.) scored a team-high 17 points and recorded five steals.
Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) finished with 10 points and added five rebounds. Ashley Merritt (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) recorded a team-high five assists.
For the Golden Knights, Takora McIntyre and Nina Fedullo each finished with 10 points to lead the team. Mcintyre recorded four steals and three assists while Fedullo grabbed 10 boards and finished with a double-double.
Leah Dollard scored eight points while Shamim Wambere added seven points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Chargers finished the game shooting 42.9% from the field while St Rose shot 36.5%. TheLady Chargers outscored the Golden Knights 44-24 from inside the paint.
The Lady Chargers will be back in action on Sunday, November 17th when the 7th Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament continues. DC will host St Michael's College at 12:00 PM.
