Flushing, N.Y. (3/25/23) The Dominican University New York men's and women's track and field teams opened up the outdoor season at the Queens College Season Opener held on the campus of the Knights on a rainy afternoon.

WOMEN'S RESULTS

• Freshman Jayda Jones (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) had the finish of second place in the 100m dash with a time of 13.63.  Krystal Parris (Toronto, Canada) took eighth place with a time of 14.65, while Anjalice Arias (Middletown, N.Y.) finished in 12th place with a time of 15.54.
• Jones also took second place in the 200m dash with a time of 28.52, while Julia Dunne (Babylon, N.Y.) finished in sixth place with a time of 29.72.  Parris ran a time of 30.20 to place ninth and Arias took 18th place with a time of 36.80.
• The 400m dash saw Dunne take second place with a time of 1:09.62.  Sophomore Nicole Kordonias (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) finished in ninth place with a time of 1:33.07.
• Sophomore Anna Murphy (Holbrook, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:50.47.
• The shot put event saw Miranda Tucker (Nassau, Bahamas) finish in second place with a throw of 9.62m (31' 6.75") and Stacy Eliezer (New City, N.Y.) take third place with a throw of 8.93m (29' 3.75").
• Eliezer took second place in the discus event with a throw of 25.45m (83' 6") and Andrea Clark (Welwyn, U.K.) finished in seventh place with a throw of 16.37m (53' 8").
• Tucker also competed in the javelin throw and finished in second place with a throw of 29.52m (96' 10").

MEN'S RESULTS

• Junior Dariel Suarez (North Bergen, N.J.) won the 100m dash with a time of 12.05.  Brian Thompson (North Bergen, N.J.) took fifth place with a time of 12.10, while Kenney Lauredent (Pomona, N.Y.) finished in 12th place with a time of 12.36.  Aidan Mallon (Bohemia, N.Y.) placed 16th with a time of 12.55.
• Thompson won the 200m dash with a time of 21.50.  Olatunji Adewole (North Plainfield, N.J.) ran a time of 22.00 to finish in third place, while Suarez finished in fifth place with a time of 23.30.  Freshman Samuel Fileen (Monroe, N.Y.) took seventh place with a time of 23.50 and Steven Smith (Yonkers, N.Y.) finished in 15th place with a time of 24.50.
• The long jump saw Lauredent win the event with a jump of 6.07m (19' 11").  Jeffrey Li Rivera (Suffern, N.Y.) took seventh place with a jump of 5.50m (18' 0.5").
• Li Rivera ran in the 400m hurdle event and took second place with a time of 1:06.30.
• Thrower Adam Lenn (Thiells, N.Y.) took second place in the shot put event with a throw of 12.09m (39' 8").  Lawrence Ribeiro (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) finished in 10th place with a throw of 9.03m (29' 7.5"), while Vincent Faison (Chester, N.Y.) place 14th with a time of 7.38m (24' 2.5").
• Lenn also took second place in the discus event with a throw of 42.95m (140' 11") and Louis Rodriguez (Monsey, N.Y.) finished third with a throw of 31.20m (102' 4").  Ribeiro had a throw of 22.06m (72' 4") to take 11th place.
• The 5000m run saw Chase Freed (Queensbury, N.Y.) take fourth place with a time of 19:02.65.
• Aidan Nelson (Tappan, N.Y.) competed in the 1500m run and took fifth place with a time of 4:44.50.  Daniel Pinilla (Blauvelt, N.Y.) took eighth place with a time of 4:53.89.
• In the 400m dash, Fileen ran a time of 56.36 to place seventh, while Smith took 11th place with a time of 58.39.  Adewole took 20th place with a time of 1:05.74.
• Rodriguez finished in ninth place in the javelin event with a throw of 28.27m (92' 9") and Faison took 11th place with a throw of 18.27m (59' 11").
• Freshman Prince Copeland (Haverstraw, N.Y.) took 13th place in the 800m run with a time of 2:29.11.

Dominican is back in action next weekend when they travel to the Ramapo College Spring Outdoor Opener.
