Bloomfield, N.J. (11/7/19) The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team rallied after losing the first set, 25-16, to win the next three to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-1, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in the Bloomfield Gym.
Bloomfield, N.J. (11/7/19) The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team rallied after losing the first set, 25-16, to win the next three to defeat the visiting Chargers of Dominican College, 3-1, this evening in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in the Bloomfield Gym.
The first set was tied at 5-5 when Dominican (0-23, 0-17 CACC) went on a 6-0 run with senior Sara Hayward (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) serving all six points and freshman Briana Rios (New York, N.Y.) recording two kills during the run to take an 11-5 lead. DC would extend the lead to 10 points in the set en route to the 25-16 win.
In the second set, the Chargers trailed 21-16 when they went on a 7-2 run to tie the set at 23-all. Back-to-back errors allowed the Bears to claim a 25-23 set win and tie the match at 1-1. Bloomfield went on to win the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-20 for the 3-1 match victory.
Senior Deanna Knopf (Hauppauge, N.Y.) had a match leading 10 kills and 11 digs.
Emmalyn LaPier (Endicott, N.Y.) added five kills and eight digs, while Alicia Dennis (Kemp, Texas) tallied 11 digs.
Hayward recorded 10 assists and junior Essence Boyd (Peekskill, N.Y.) had nine assists.
Dominican returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Chestnut Hill College.
