DOMINICAN ATHLETICS HONORS SENIOR STUDENT-ATHLETES AND SPECIAL AWARD WINNERS WITH VIRTUAL VIDEO
Orangeburg, N.Y. (6/8/20) The Dominican College Department of Athletics honored their senior student-athletes and special award winners last week with a virtual ceremony. Orangeburg, N.Y. (6/8/20) The Dominican College Department of Athletics honored their senior student-athletes and special award winners last week with a virtual ceremony. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the daily way of life around the globe, the annual athletics and senior awards ceremony aired via the departments YouTube Channel and is also available on demand on Dominican's CACC Network Page.
The video was compiled of individual slides for each 2019-2020 senior in every sport and slides of this year's Chi Alpha Sigma Induction Class, Lady Charger and Charger Award winners and the Guzman Award winner.
This year's Chi Alpha Sigma class of inductees were: Nicholas Beutel, Lauren Buchanan, Bruno Garcia, Megan Geary, Bridget Geyer, Korina Guerra, Laurel Kennedy, Samantha McClutchy, Elle Nittinger, Bryan O'Loughlin, Shelby Smith, Lorcan Teahan and Cameron Whitton.
The male and female student-athletes with the highest GPA's were also honored. This year's winners were: Tyler Doll (soccer) with a GPA of 3.96 and Elle Nittinger (basketball) with a GPA of 4.0.
The annual Lady Charger and Charger Awards were presented to a senior male and female athlete whose character exemplifies the values of Sportmanship, Teamwork and Commitment to Dominican College. The 2020 Lady Charger Award Winners were: Alexandria Ledgerwood and Djazmina Jean-Pierre and the Charger Award Winner was: Jonathan Garcia.
The annual Dominic Guzman Award was also presented to a student-athlete who maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher, is an upper-classmen, exhibits personal and social maturity and serves not only the athletic department but to the overall campus community. This year's recipient was: Shelby Smith.
While the Athletic and Senior Awards Ceremony is normally held in person, the celebration and recognition of our senior student-athletes, Chi Alpha Sigma inductees and our other special award winners is always an important priority for the athletic department.
