Philadelphia, Pa. (1/27/19) The Chargers improved to 14-3 (9-0 CACC) after their overtime victory over the Tigers of Holy Family University. The 92-87 OT win is DC's sixth straight win. The Tigers fall to 9-7 (5-4 CACC) after the loss.
The Chargers led most of the way through the first half and had their largest lead of eight points. DC took a 48-42 lead into halftime.
Daraja Rodwell (Baldwin, N.Y.) led the Chargers in the opening half with 16 points and made four out of seven three-point attempts. Tavon Ginyard (Brentwood, N.Y.) scored 13 points while Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn.) scored eight points.
Kharon Randolph and Patrick Robinson each scored 12 points in the first half to lead the Tigers.
In the second half, the Chargers built their largest lead over the Tigers which was 13. The Tigers battled back to tie the game with just under three minutes to play. DC regained the lead and the Tigers answered back to tie the game up again and send the game to overtime with the scored locked up at 77-77.
Branden Aughburns scored 12 points in the second half to lead the Tigers back into the game. Rodwell added eight more points in the second half for the Chargers and finished regulation leading DC in points with 24.
In the overtime period, the Chargers got off to a fast start by scoring the first eight points. The Tigers cut the deficit back to five points, but the Chargers answered back and were able to close out the 92-87 victory.
Rodwell led DC in the game with 24 points, nine rebounds, three steals and one assist. Gardener and Ginyard each finished the game with 16 points. Gardener also contributed six rebounds in the win.
Jason Copman (Cumberland, Md.) scored 13 points and recorded nine rebounds and one block. Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y.) finished the game with nine points, eight assists, four rebounds, and one steal for DC. Donnell Hill (Staten Island, N.Y.) pulled down seven points and scored six rebounds while Koree Hargraves (Teaneck, N.J.) also scored six points. Jonathon Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) recorded six assists, three rebounds, and two points in the win.
Patrick Robinson led the Tigers in points with 21 and added four assists and three steals. Branden Aughburns scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. Vincenzo Dalessandro scored 14 points and recorded 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Kharon Randolph contributed 13 points with five rebounds and five assists.
The Chargers will return home on Saturday, February 2nd when they host the University of the Sciences at 3:00 PM.
