CHARGERS OPEN SEASON WITH VICTORY OVER LE MOYNE COLLEGE
Albany, N.Y. (11/12/22) Graduate student Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) scored the game-winning jumper as time expired to lead the Dominican University New York men's basketball team to a 68-66 victory over Le Moyne College today at the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament.

Le Moyne (0-1) held a 31-18 advantage with 8:13 to play in the first half but Dominican (1-0) charged back into the game with a 14-4 run to cut the lead to 35-32 with 1:45 to play. Redshirt sophomore Joshuel White (Paterson, N.J.) closed out the first half scoring with consecutive free throws to pull within three points, 37-34, at the break.
Redshirt junior Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) led the team with seven points in the half, while Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) had a team best four rebounds.
Dominican opened the second with the first three points to tie the score, 37-all, and later took a 39-38 edge with 16:42 on the clock by the jumper by Victor Ogbo (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
A Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) jumper with 8:21 left in regulation gave the Chargers their biggest lead of the contest, 59-53, but a six-point spurt by the Dolphins put them up 62-61 with under four minutes to go. A Serrano trey and a bucket from Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) rebuilt a 66-62 advantage with under two minutes left.
Le Moyne scored back-to-back buckets to re-tie the game with six seconds on the clock and following a 30-second time out by Dominican, Roundtree hit the game-winning basket as time expired for the 68-66 victory.
Johnson led the team with 15 points, while White had the game's only double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Roundtree finished with 10 points, four rebounds and three steals with Serrano also recording 10 points.
The Chargers return to action tomorrow at the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament as they take on the host, the College of Saint Rose at 4pm.
