RAMS UPEND CHARGERS IN 34TH ANNUAL BOBBY MULLIGAN MEMORIAL GAME

(1/28/23) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team rallied in the second half, but the rally fell short as the Thomas Jefferson Rams came away with the 76-71 victory this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.

(1/28/23) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team rallied in the second half, but the rally fell short as the Thomas Jefferson Rams came away with the 76-71 victory this evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action played on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
Prior to the start of the game, the Annual Bobby Mulligan Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Ryan Conroy (Staten Island, N.Y.).
With the loss, Dominican now stands at 15-5 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
The Chargers trailed 41-22 at the intermission, but began the second half with a 27-7 run, capped off with a three-point basket from Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), to claim a 49-48 advantage with 11:20 left to play. Five quick Ram points rebuilt a 53-49 lead, but Dominican would later bring it down to a one possession game (74-71) with 21 ticks left. Forced to foul, Jefferson'e Erik Timko hit both free throws for the 76-71 win.
Guard Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Dominican with 17 points.
Cherry finished with 14 points off the bench, while Emmanuel Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) tallied eight points and a team best six rebounds. Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) recorded seven points and six caroms in the loss.
Timko led all scorers with 24 points for the Rams, with Ahmed Barba-Bey adding 21 points.
Dominican returns to action on Tuesday evening when they host the University of Bridgeport.
