CHARGERS COMPLETE SEASON SWEEP OVER BRIDGEPORT

With the win, the Chargers complete the season sweep over UB and improve to 16-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play. UB falls to 10-11 overall and 6-7 in the conference.
Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for the Chargers with 28 points including a perfect 15-15 from the free-throw line. Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) finished with a season-high 15 points and also added five boards.
Emmanuel Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) provided 14 points and six rebounds off the bench. Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) contributed 12 points and seven boards while Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) finished with 10 points and six boards.
Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added seven points while Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) added five points, four assists, and three rebounds.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 51.8% from the field as a team. Dominican capitalized in the paint by outscoring UB 50-22.
Dominican also capitalized from the free throw line by finishing 29-34 from the charity stripe for a percentage of 85.3%.
Both teams played a competitive game with the Chargers holding a five-point lead at halftime.
The Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game in the second half which was 18 points by using a 19-4 run.
The Purple Knights battled back down the stretch and cut the Charger lead to just six points. With 32 seconds remaining, Serrano hit a big three-point shot that put the Chargers up by nine and helped complete the victory.
Bridgeport was led by D'Andre Collins who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Taj Chiles added 14 points and seven assists. Ali Sumareh and Mason Williams each added 13 points while Malcolm Moye and Matt Turner each added 10 points.
The Chargers return to action this Thursday when they travel to Queens College for a non-conference game with the Knights at 6:00 PM.
