JADEN HONIS NETS CAREER HIGH IN WIN OVER BEARS
Bloomfield, N.J. (2/20/24) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team outlasted the Bears of Bloomfield College of MSU in CACC north division action.
Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) led the Chargers past the Bears with a career high 29 points on 10-16 shooting including 4-7 from three-point range.
The Chargers improve to 17-9 overall and 8-6 in conference play while the Bears fall to 17-8 overall and 9-5 in the CACC.
Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) and Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) combined for 31 points in the win. Sharif-Brown finished with 17 points and added four rebounds while Serrano added four assists.
Key'Sean Maynard (Queens, N.Y.) scored nine points off the bench while Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored eight points and recorded six boards. Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished with seven points.
Both teams were tied 46-46 at halftime after a close opening half. The Chargers extended to their largest lead of the game in the second half which was 11 points.
Dominican held a nine point lead with just over five minutes left and the Bears fought their way back.
The Bears went on a 13-2 run to take a one point lead with just over one minute to play. The Chargers regained the lead with less than one minute to play and key free throws made by Jaden Honis helped secure the 91-87 victory.
The Chargers return home on Saturday to host Caldwell University for their final home game of the season and Senior Day.
