With the win, Dominican improves to 2-7 overall and 1-0 in CACC play.
The game was tied 3-3 with 7:20 remaining in the first quarter when the Chargers netted three straight off the sticks of Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), Lorcan Teahan (Sparkill, N.Y.) and Ryan Fischer (Monroe, N.Y.) to take a 6-3 advantage.
Dominican continued on their run with the first three scores of the second quarter as Nicholas D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y.), Nicolas Jelovcic (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va.) all recorded goals to extend the lead to 9-3. Consecutive man-up goals by the Eagles made the score 9-5, but Carson ended the third quarter with his second goal of the game, off the pass from Fischer for the 10-5 lead.
After the break, the Chargers opened the third quarter with five consecutive goals as freshman Luke Martini (Abington, Mass.) scored twice during the run to extend the lead to double-digits, 15-5 and they closed out the quarter with a 15-7 edge.
Post outscored the Chargers, 4-2 in the final 15 minutes of play for the final 17-11 score. Jelovcic and Fischer recorded the goals for Dominican in the fourth quarter.
Fischer led the team with four goals and four assists, while Martini added three goals.
Faceoff specialist Stephen Falco (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a career high 27 ground balls and 30 faceoffs won in 32 attempts.
Patrick Gifford (Galloway, N.J.) made 10 saves in the win.
The Chargers will host Chestnut Hill College this coming Saturday night at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in CACC action.
