Orangeburg, N.Y. (9/30/23) The Dominican University New York men's soccer team played their first game on the new Sister Mary Eileen O'Brien Field this afternoon against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Goldey-Beacom College.
The game was scoreless until the 36th minute of play when Dominican's Marouf Barry (Bronx, N.Y.) scored a goal off the dish from Guilherme Pirana (Jundiai, Brazil) for the 1-0 advantage.
Dominican added to the lead at 51:31 mark as Pirana recorded a goal following a pass from Simon Ostrowski (Wyckoff, N.J.).
Goldey-Beacom held the 22-20 advantage in shots, while the Chargers had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Keeper David Arteaga (Middlesex, N.J.) made 10 saves in the contest.
Pirana finished with one goal and one assist.
The game was halted with six seconds remaining in regulation (89:54 mark). The CACC and Dominican await official confirmation from the NCAA of a completed game. Once confirmed, it will be the first career victory for head coach, Jordan Collver.
Dominican is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Caldwell University.
