WOMEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS COMEBACK VICTORY OVER CONCORDIA
Bronxville, N.Y. (2/13/19) The Dominican College women’s basketball team earned a bounce-back win over the Clippers of Concordia College by a score of 82-79.
Bronxville, N.Y. (2/13/19) The Dominican College women's basketball team earned a bounce-back win over the Clippers of Concordia College by a score of 82-79. DC earns their 11th win on the season to improve to 11-12 (9-5 CACC) and still hold the top spot in the north division standings. Concordia falls to 5-18 (3-11 CACC).
Dominican started off the game with a strong opening quarter and led Concordia by a score of 21-14 going into the second quarter. The Clippers answered in the second quarter and trailed DC by a score of 40-37 going into halftime.
Kyla Ramseur (Bloomfield, N.J.) led the way for DC in the first half with nine points and recorded three assists. Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) scored eight points and recorded three assists. Ciera Rivera (Pomona, N.Y.) also scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds.
Sara Hopkins led the Clippers in points in the first half with ten and also recorded three rebounds and three assists. Sabrina Clement scored nine points and recorded six rebounds for the Clippers while Amiya Rankins scored seven points. Nicole Nicholson added six points with four rebounds and three steals.
Concordia opened the second half with a big third quarter by outscoring Dominican 28-12. The Clippers ended the strong third quarter with their largest lead of the game which was 13 points.
The Lady Chargers answered back with a big fourth quarter by outscoring Concordia 30-14. DC used an 18-6 run in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 71-71 with just over two minutes remaining.
Tied at 77, Korina Guerra put DC on top with 18 seconds left to play and the Lady Chargers closed out the victory.
Ramseur finished the game with a team-leading 19 points and added seven assists and five steals in the win. Guerra finished with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Alpreshia Parker (Pocono Summit, Pa.) added 11 points while Jasmine Gee (Englewood, N.J.) scored nine points and led the team in rebounds with six.
Clement recorded a double-double to lead the Clippers with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Hopkins scored a team-leading 19 points and pulled down six rebounds. Cameron Corbett scored 14 points and recorded seven rebounds.
The Lady Chargers will look to win back to back games when they return home on Saturday, February 16th and will host Goldey-Beacom College at 1:00 PM.
