Orangeburg, N.Y. (12/19/19) The Dominican College women's basketball team fell to the University of New Haven in a non-conference game by a score of 65-55. New Haven improves to 9-1 on the season as the Lady Chargers fall to 4-7 overall.
Khay'la Latimer (Teaneck, N. J.) led the way for DC with 16 points, three steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Latimer did most of her damage from three-point range by going 5 of 6 from downtown.
Camryn DeBose led the way for UNH with 16 points and added four rebounds and one assist.
The first quarter ended in a tie at 19-19. DeBose led all scorers in the opening quarter with nine points. Korina Guerra (White Plains, N.Y.) recorded three assists and scored five points in the first quarter.
The Lady Chargers opened the second quarter with eight unanswered points. UNH answered back before the end of the first half and DC held a slight 32-29 edge over UNH at halftime.
Alexis Suarez (Poughquag, N.Y.) and Taylor Tomlinson (Middletown, N.Y.) teamed up for nine of DC's 13 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Chargers extended to an eight-point lead in the third quarter but UNH answered back to cut the deficit to one point before the start of the fourth quarter.
UNH used a big fourth quarter to take the lead and extended to an eleven-point lead late in the quarter. UNH was able to hold off the Lady Chargers with the 65-55 win.
Aurora Deshaies finished the game with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds for UNH. Brie Pergola added 13 points.
Samantha McClutchy (Washington Township, N.J.) scored 10 points for DC and added five rebounds, three steals, and one assist. Korina Guerra finished the game with eight points, five assists, and three rebounds.
Taylor Tomlinson pulled down a team-leading eight boards and added eight points.
The Lady Chargers will look to bounce back when they visit CACC opponent Nyack College on Saturday, December 21st at 1:00 PM.
