2019 CACC WOMEN'S TENNIS PRESEASON COACHES POLL ANNOUNCED
New Haven, Conn. (8/22/19) Goldey-Beacom College, winners of two of the last three conference titles, was picked to finish first in the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Thursday by Commissioner Dan Mara. The Lightning, who earned a share of last season's CACC regular season title while also capturing the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, earned 96 points in the voting, including six first-place votes. Voting for the poll was conducted by the league's 10 head coaches in the sport.

Rounding out the top three included Concordia College (2nd, 84 pts, 3 1st-place votes) and Wilmington University (3rd, 78 pts, 1 1st-place). All three teams earned a share of the CACC regular season title in 2018, with WilmU earning the tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed in the CACC Women's Tennis Championship and ultimately winning the tournament to lock up the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
Also of note was Dominican College being picked eighth in the poll, as the Chargers will be embarking on their inaugural season of women's tennis at the varsity level in 2019.
The regular season gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 5, with the season being a build up to the 2019 CACC Championship, which will be contested Oct. 22, 25-26. The top-six teams in the regular season standings will qualify for the championship with the top-two seeds getting byes to the semifinals. In Tuesday's first round on the 22nd, the sixth seed will play at the third seed, while the fifth seed will travel to the fourth seed. Tuesday's two winners will advance to Friday's semifinals on the 25th, while the championship final will be staged on Saturday the 26th. Post University will serve as the host institution for the semifinals and final at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club in Middlebury, Conn.
