Lyndhurst, N.J. (4/2/17) The Dominican College baseball team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action to host Felician University in games played today at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Golden Falcons won the first game, 8-2, and took the second game, 9-8.

Lyndhurst, N.J. (4/2/17) The Dominican College baseball team fell in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action to host Felician University in games played today at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex. The Golden Falcons won the first game, 8-2, and took the second game, 9-8.
Game One: Felician held a 6-0 lead through five innings when the Chargers got on the board in the sixth as senior Jayson Gray (New Rochelle, N.Y.) scored on a wild pitch. DC added a run in the ninth on the RBI ground out off the bat of Joshua Colon (Bronx, N.Y.) for the final 8-2 score.
Gray, Arbely Soto (Bronx, N.Y.) and Jordan Bernacet (Schenectady, N.Y.) all had two hits each in the loss.
Nathanial Popiel (Mechanicville, N.Y.) sufferend the loss (1-2) in five innings of work, allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits and four strikeouts.
Game Two: Dominican College scored three runs in the first inning as Colon singled up-the-middle to bring home a run and two batters later Justin Decker (Rotterdam, N.Y.) singled home a run. A Golden Falcon error allowed the third Dominican run to score and give them the 3-0 lead.
Felician scored runs in the second, third and fourth frames to pull ahead, 6-3, but the Charger offense countered with a three run fifth stanza to knot the score, 6-6. In the fifth, designated hitter Anthony Bartolomei (Oakhurst, N.J.) had an RBI single and with two outs, Gray doubled to right center to bring home two runs.
An error and a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth scored three runs to re-gain a 9-6 lead. In the top of the seventh, Dominican scored two runs on a fielder's choice off the bat of Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) and a sacrifice fly ball from Max Franzone (Nanuet, N.Y.) for the final 9-8 score.
Decker and Bartolomei both had two hits, while Bartolomei and Soto scored two runs each.
Nicholas Galese (Totowa, N.J.) suffered the loss in 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing three runs (none earned) on three hits and three strikeouts.
Following the losses, the Chargers are now 7-12 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
