Cary, N.C. (3/12/20) The Dominican College baseball team defeated the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans, 9-5, today in a non-conference game played at the USA Training Complex.
Cary, N.C. (3/12/20) The Dominican College baseball team defeated the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans, 9-5, today in a non-conference game played at the USA Training Complex.
The Spartans opened up the came with a three-run top of the first, but the Chargers countered with three-runs in the bottom frame as desginated hitter David Hill (Boca Raton, Fla.) produced a three-run double to re-tie the score, 3-3.
Hill game Dominican a 4-3 edge in the third inning with an RBI single and Brian Sanders (La Ceiba, Honduras) made the score 5-3 in the fourth with a run-scoring single. An RBI single off the bat of Arthur Quinones (Miami, Fla.) in the fifth extended the lead to 6-3.
Two more runs scored in the seventh as Max Chidsey (Naples, Fla.) singled home a run and Brian Parzyck (Naugatuck, Conn.) scored on a passed ball to make the score 8-3. Sanders would increase the lead to 9-3 in the eighth when he scored on an error. STAC scored two runs in the ninth for the final 9-5 score.
Quinones finished the game with four hits, while Hill added a career high four RBI. Sanders tallied three hits.
Junior Jaden Diaz-Lambert (Erial, N.J) picked up the win to improve to 2-1 on the season. In eight innings of work, he allowed three runs on five hits and four strikeouts.
With the win, Dominican improves to 3-10 on the season.
