MEN'S GOLF OPENS SPRING SEASON AT LAKER SPRING SHOOTOUT
Jackson Springs, N.C. (3/9/24) The Dominican University golf team opened up the spring portion of their season with a fifth place finish at the Laker Spring Shootout, hosted by Mercyhurst University at Foxfire Resort and Golf.
Dominican finished the tournament with a combined score of 604, while totaling 90 pars, 30 birdies and one eagle during play.
The team had an opening round score of 296 to be in fourth place out of the 12 competing teams. The team compiled 17 birdies in the round with individual Colin Kowalski (Johnstown, N.Y.) recording one birdie.
In round two, the team shot a combined score of 308 to drop one spot to finish fifth overall. Day two saw a total of 13 birdies and one eagle on the 14th hole by Alexander Lundvall (Stockholm, Sweden).
Junior Bruno Pardo (Mexico City, Mexico) had the high finish of third place overall in the tournament with rounds of 70 and 71 for a 141 complete score.
Brikke Decoster (Lebbeke, Belgium) tied for sixth place overall with rounds of 71 and 73 for a 144 total score.
Senior Lundvall tied for 32nd place overall with rounds of 78 and 77 for a 155 total score. Alejandro Gomez Cervantes (Torreon, Mexico) shot rounds of 77 and 92 for a 169 total score and tied for 48th place.
As an individual, Kowalski also tied for 48th place with rounds of 83 and 86.
Nicolas Arrieta-Guerra (Bucaramanga, Colombia) rounded out the scoring for the Chargers as he took 58th place with scores of 91 and 87 for a 178 total score.
The Chargers return to action on April 4th when they compete at the Spartan Shootout.
