The Chargers improve to 2-0 overall after earning the win on day two of the Saint Rose Tip-Off Tournament.
Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the way for the Chargers with 28 points which included five three-pointers. Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) finished with 15 points including the game winning three-pointer at the buzzer.
Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) added 10 points and eight boards while Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) finished with nine points and Isaiah Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) added eight points.
The Golden Knights were led by Shane O'Dell who recorded a double-double on 22 points and 10 rebounds. Matt Constant added 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists while Keegan Zoller finished with 17 points.
The Chargers finished the game shooting 43.1% from the field and 58.6% from three-point range.
The Chargers trailed 80-62 late in the second half and came all the way back on a 25-6 run to earn the victory.
With 16 seconds remaining, the Chargers trailed 86-81 after two free throws were made by Saint Rose. Wahaad Johnson hit a three-pointer to cut the Golden Knights lead to 86-84.
With five seconds remaining, a missed free-throw by Saint Rose was rebounded by Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) and with time running out Joseph Merrill nailed the final shot from three-point range at the buzzer to lift Dominican over the Golden Knights.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, November 16th when they host Assumption University for their home opener at 7:30 PM.
