Las Vegas, NV (12/19/22) The #20/#21 Dominican University New York men's basketball team concluded play at the Holiday Hoops Classic with a thrilling 83-82 victory over the West Texas A&M Buffs in a game played today at the South Point Arena and Events Center.

With the win Dominican improves to 11-1 overall while the Buffs fall to 6-4 on the year.
Red-shirt freshman Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) hit the game-winning trey with three ticks left in regulation to propel the Chargers to the 83-82 victory. Cherry finished the game with a career high 18 points, shooting 7-9 from the floor, two rebounds and two steals.
Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) came off the bench to score 15 points (9-9 from the charity stripe), two assists and one steal, while Brandt Roundtree (Plainfield, N.J.) added 12 points, four blocks, three rebounds and three assists.
Senior Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) contributed 10 points and six caroms and Joshuel White (Paterson, N.J.) netted 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Forward Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) pulled down a team best seven boards, to go along with six points, two assists and two steals.
The Buffs led 16-10 with 12:41 to play in the first half when Dominican charged back into the game with an 18-4 run to jump ahead 28-20 with 6:41 left in regulation. A Cherry jumper with 28 seconds left in the half made the score 43-40, but a West Texas A&M three-point basket with one tick left tied the game at 43-all at the break.
Honis put the Chargers ahead 79-75 with 1:48 to play on consecutive free throws, but four quick points by the Buffs re-tied the score at 79-79. A 6-1 run by the Buffs put them up 82-80 with nine seconds left which led to a Charger time out. A missed free throw by West Texas A&M gave Cherry the opportunity to grab the defensive board and score the game-winning trey with seconds to play.
Dominican returns to action on December 29th when they return to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play by hosting Caldwell University.
