CHARGERS WRAP UP AT THE DAYTONA BEACH SHOOTOUT
Daytona Beach, Fla. (12/18/23) The Dominican University New York men's basketball team fell in their second of back to back games of the Dayton Beach Shootout to St. Mary's University (TX).
The Chargers went 1-1 on their Daytona Beach trip and now hold an overall of 8-2 on the season.
The Chargers held their largest lead of the game which was seven points in a close first half before the Rattlers closed the gap and took a two point lead by halftime.
The Rattlers extended to a seven point lead but the Chargers used a 12-4 run to regain a one point lead.
The Rattlers answered back with a 10-0 run and held the lead the rest of the way. The Chargers would climb their way back into the game down the stretch but could not regain the lead as the Rattlers secured the 78-69 victory.
The Chargers were led by Seth Sharif-Brown (Hackensack, N.J.) who recorded a double-double including a career high 16 boards and scored 16 points. Sharif-Brown also added five assists.
Jaden Honis (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored 15 points and added three assists, one steal, and one block. Joshua Serrano (Amityville, N.Y.) finished with 13 points scored while Joseph Merrill (Derry, N.H.) finished with 12 points.
Javel Cherry (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added eight points while Joshuel White (Paterson, N.J.) recorded a team-high six assists.
The Rattlers were led by Jalon Johnson who scored a game-high 22 points and added five rebounds. Lachlan Bofinger scored 10 points and recorded 12 boards for a double-double while Davion Coleman finished with 16 points and seven boards.
Dominican returns to action on Friday, December 29th when they visit Franklin Pierce University for a 1:00 PM tip-off.
