#5 SEED DOMINICAN FALLS TO #4 SEED POST UNIVERSITY IN THE OPENING ROUND OF THE 2023 CACC MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Waterbury, Conn. (5/1/23) The Dominican University New York men’s lacrosse team fell to the Post University Eagles in the opening round of the 2023 CACC Men’s Lacrosse Championships this afternoon.

The #4 seed Eagles defeated the #5 seed Chargers by a score of 12-10. The Chargers finish the season with an overall record of 5-11.
Steffen Peabody (Brookhaven, N.Y.) made the start in goal for the Chargers and made 15 saves but suffered the loss. Cole George started in goal for the Eagles and made 12 saves in the win.
William Gordon (Amityville, N.Y.) led Dominican in goals scored with four and added one assist for five points. Daniel Carson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) recorded a team-high five assists while Kyle Benedetto (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with a hat trick.
Zachary Souza (Stratford, Conn.) took a team-high 14 shots and scored two goals while Cole Vencak (Smithtown, N.Y.) added one goal.
Patrick Roderka (Warwick, N.Y.) won nine total faceoffs and picked up a team-high four ground balls.
Post jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter but the Chargers answered with three straight goals to open the second quarter.
Post ended the run late in the second quarter with a goal and held a 5-3 lead over Dominican by halftime.
Both teams scored four goals in the third quarter which included two goals by Gordon but the Eagles still held a two goal advantage at the start of the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Post extended their lead to three goals but Dominican answered after Benedetto scored his third goal of the game.
The Eagles answered back to regain the three goal lead but back to back goals by Gordon got the Chargers within one goal with under five minutes to play.
Post added a goal with 1:02 left to play and extended their lead to 12-10 and would hold on to the victory.
